The wall hanging is developed from the original series of tapestries designed by Claude Audran III and woven in the Gobelins' manufactory in 1784 under the direction of Jacques Neilson and is from 'The Seasons and the Elements" series of tapestries. Here we see Juno surrounded by birds and from beneath the cloud on which Juno sits a winged child blows Juno along. On each side of Juno, surmounted upon golden vessels are two glorious peacocks (Juno's bird). Juno was the guardian of finances with her temple on Capitoline Hill containing the mint, typified by the large urn of coins at the centre bottom of the wall hanging, with a cornucopia on either side overflowing with coins and jewels. -
