 The Portique de Junon wall hanging is:

• Made in France where the design is silk screened over a jacquard tapestry background, a process that dates from the late middle ages to imitate woven tapestries for theatre backdrops.
• The Portique de Junon wall hanging is fully backed.
• Includes a "channel" sewn into the top of the tapestry to allow for the tapestry rod to be easily inserted for hanging. 
• Includes a continuous aluminium weight stabilization bar* sewn into the bottom of the tapestry (that helps minimize distortion of the tapestry when hung).

The Portique de Junon (Portico of Juno), queen of heaven is typifying the element of air. The wall hanging is developed from the original series of tapestries designed by Claude Audran III and woven in the Gobelins' manufactory in 1784 under the direction of Jacques Neilson and is from 'The Seasons and the Elements" series of tapestries. Here we see Juno surrounded by birds and from beneath the cloud on which Juno sits a winged child blows Juno along. On each side of Juno, surmounted upon golden vessels are two glorious peacocks (Junpo's bird). Juno was the guardian of finances with her temple on Capitoline Hill containing the mint, typified by the large urn of coins at the centre bottom of the wall hanging, with a conucopia on either side overflowing with coins and jewels.

*Please note: For international customers - due to dimension retsrictions by Australia Post, as this tapestry is over 105cm (41"wide), the weight bar will be in two parts.

Care & Cleaning: This wall hanging is made with the highest quality of materials and as the design is jacquard woven (not printed), it is completely dry-cleanable. The tapestry can be ironed, steam-cleaned, spot-cleaned and "scotch-guarded" if required.
