Hylas and the Nymphs
SALE: CLEARANCE WALL HANGING - available only whilst stock lasts
The Hylas and the Nymphs wall hanging is:
- Fully imported from the United Kingdom. The image is transferred to the base tapestry fabric by a process of heat sublimation to ensure that the finished wall hanging accurately reproduces the colours of the original tapestry.
- The tapestry is fully backed.
- Jacquard "base" tapestry fabric is woven from cotton thread.
- Includes a "channel" sewn into the top of the tapestry to allow for the tapestry rod to be easily inserted for hanging.
- Includes a continuous aluminium weight stabilization bar* sewn into the bottom of the tapestry (that helps minimize distortion of the tapestry when hung).
* Please Note: For International Customers - due to dimension restrictions by Australia Post, as this tapestry is over 105cm (41") wide the weight bar will be in two parts.
Hylas and the Nymphs wall hanging is developed from an 1896 oil painting by John Waterhouse and is produced by a process of heat sublimation over a woven background to imitate woven tapestry. The scene is inspired by the Greek and Roman mythology of Hylas, a companion of Hercules and both Argonauts in search of the Golden Fleece with Jason on his ship the Argo. The tragic Hylas was sent to find fresh drinking water where Hylas found a pond occupied by Naiads (female water nymphs). Hylas became infatuated by the beautiful Naiads who lured Hylas into the water where he disappeared forever.
Care & Cleaning: This wall hanging is made with the highest quality materials and is completely dry cleanable. The wall hanging can be ironed, steam-cleaned, spot-cleaned and "scotch-guarded" if required.
